I’ve been inspired recently by the idea that creativity can also be simple,
and it feels really good finding my inspiration from a slower, simpler perspective.
I had so much fun shooting these photos, taking the pressure off myself and simply creating work I adore.

Before I even moved to Ōtautahi Christchurch, I saw photos of Ridgecliff Farm and knew straight away this place was special. I knew I wanted to photograph weddings and elopements there.

A few months later, I spent an afternoon exploring Ridgecliff Farm, nestled in the wild hills of Little Akaloa, Banks Peninsula, with my lovely friends Emma & Neo. They were up for trying something new and were the perfect couple to dress up as bride and groom in vintage wedding clothes. Adorned with exquisite Mothmade Jewelry, handcrafted by local Ōtautahi jeweler Lily Wenmoth, they explored the luscious flower gardens and rugged hills of this corner of Banks Peninsula while I captured it, mostly of film which helps me slow down and be more intentional with every image I take.

I love bringing together local creatives and doing something less traditional, more casual and retro. There are so many ways to celebrate love, and I always want people to know they can do it their own way, to look like themselves, be themselves, and celebrate in a way that aligns with their life.

The ridiculously talented Lily Wenmoth creates such beautiful pieces, and it was such a privilege to have her handcrafted rings, necklaces, and bracelets to play with.
Have a look at her magical earth inspired jewelry here.

I photographed most of this shoot on my 35mm film camera, with a few digital images scattered in between.

Florals were created by Phoebe, using locally grown blooms and waste-free floristry methods.

Why Ridgecliff Farm is Perfect for Elopements and Intimate Weddings

If you’re envisioning a small celebration that feels private and serene, surrounded by rugged views and the magic of lush rural gardens, Ridgecliff Farm in Little Akaloa, Banks Peninsula, is honestly a dream.

Ridgecliff Farm is a rare venue that offers both the rugged beauty of the coastline and the comforts of home. It’s one of the few coastal wedding locations in Christchurch, making it a bit of a gem.

So much love and care is poured into the property, and you can see and feel it in every space. The venue has an intentional, homely, yet sophisticated atmosphere, with abundant flower gardens, tastefully restored heritage buildings, native trees, and the most incredible views of Banks Peninsula’s hills rolling into the ocean.

The venue can host up to 40 guests, making it ideal for small weddings and elopements. The guest houses can accommodate multiple people, making it easy to have loved ones stay and enjoy the experience together. If you value intentional time with your family and want to spend more than just a few hours with them on your wedding day, Ridgecliff makes that possible.
